Mask Wearing Skincare Woes

Our health is more important than ever. That’s why we’re staying safe by staying home, practicing social distancing, and keeping our bodies and our homes clean. In the United States, most areas are requiring people to wear a respiratory mask while in public. For those who are privileged to work from home, mask wearing is minimal, with the occasional grocery store run or outdoor exercising. But for essential workers, mask-wearing is a requirement while on the clock. Some employees wear their masks for up to 12 hours at a time.

Unfortunately, wearing these masks for extended periods of time can create unwanted skin issues. Bacteria gets trapped underneath the mask and causes breakouts and congested skin. We wanted to share some quick tips to help keep your skin as healthy as possible during this time.

To help heal your skin, start by washing your face with our Flora Cleansing Grains.  Made from various flowers, clays, and powerful botanicals like hibiscus, chamomile, and lavender, the cleansing grains gently cleanse and exfoliate the skin. These ingredients also provide antioxidants and help boost collagen production.

Once a week, detox your skin with one of our face masks, like Mellow Rose or Sea Matcha. Both contain powerful yet soothing ingredients to help detoxify the skin, reduce inflammation, and repair skin cells. Our Mellow Rose mask helps improve skin tone and prevents scarring, while soothing irritated skin. Our Sea Matcha mask helps reduce wrinkles and fine lines, while providing your skin nutrients and balancing oil production.

Target any pesky acne with a soothing toner. We’ll soon be releasing our new facial toner, filled with key ingredients like rose and apple cider vinegar for skin balancing and hydrating benefits. The toner will be suitable for all skin types and is great for stressed skin.

Finish off with sealing your skin with our Nourish Facial Oil or Renewal Night Cream. Moisturizing the face helps with balancing oil production and protects your pores. The Nourish Facial Oil is lightweight and provides skin firming and antibacterial benefits to your skin with its blend of frankincense and rose hip oil. In the evening, give your skin a healing reset and rest with the Renewal Night Cream. Apricot kernel oil and vegetable glycerin draw in moisture into the skin, and lavender and chamomile provide acne treatment and prevention power.

Good skincare also includes staying hydrated. Our bodies are made up of mostly water, and every bodily system requires water to properly function. Drinking adequate amounts of water allows your skin to expel toxins and dirt that can get trapped in your pores and helps in keeping your skin clear and having a radiant complexion.

Lastly, wash your hands! We touch so many items throughout the day: our phones, laptops and keyboards, doorknobs, and even more. When you touch your face with unclean hands, you are transferring germs, oil, and dirt to your face. This can lead to breakouts. Be sure to wash your hands frequently and limit the times you touch your face.

As always, we are here to help you along your holistic skincare journey. We hope you are staying safe and well during this time.
